Hosting

The hosting of PRONOTE applications liberates you of all constraints inherent to the management of servers. The applications Server PRONOTE  and PRONOTE.net  no longer need to be downloaded; they are installed at Index Education. Only the installation of pre-configured Clients  that connect to the hosted base is assumed by the institution.

The running of the applications is conducted from a hosting console on the Internet.

Connect to the hosting console from a Windows workstation

To connect to the hosting console from a Windows workstation, you install an application on your workstation and connect to the console on the Internet via this application.

1. The first connection from an Internet browser, go to https ://hebergement.index-education.net.
2. Click on the button Install the console for Windows and follow the instructions for the installation.
3. From the workstation where the console is installed, double-click on the installed shortcut on your desktop at every connection of the console.
4. Enter the hosting number (sent by fax or e-mail).
5. Enter your password (sent by SMS).
6. During the first connection, enter the invoice number (sent by e-mail).

If you have lost this information (hosting number, password, invoice number), you can renew a request from a Client via the menu Hosting > Receive my hosting logins.

Connect to the hosting console from a Mac workstation

To connect to the hosting console from a Mac workstation, first you must install a certificate.

1. On the hosting console's homepage, click on I have not yet downloaded my certificate.
2. Enter the hosting number (sent by fax or e-mail) and enter your password (sent by SMS). If you have lost this information you can renew a request from a Client connected to the base, via the command Hosting > Receive my hosting logins.
3. Enter your last invoice number (sent by e-mail) and click on the button I download my certificate.
4. Copy the password necessary for the installation and follow the procedure for the installment of the certificate.
5. Once the certificate is installed, close all the windows in the browser and reconnect to the hosting console.

Load an existing database during the year

To open and put into service a database created from a local Server PRONOTE, it must first be loaded on the hosting console.

In the locally installed application Server :

1. Launch the command File > HOSTING OF PRONOTE > Generate the files for hosting.
2. In the popup window, enter the hosting  number, validate and choose a record file: PRONOTE generates at least four files (*.HNOT for the base, * .HCOURRIERS for mail, *.HDOCJOINTS for annex documents, *.HPHOTOS for photos).

From the hosting console , panel Server PRONOTE :

1. If necessary, shut down the Server and click on the button Load a base and  designate the *.HNOT file.
2. Go to the tab Other bases.
3. Select the base in the list Previously activated bases or the list Bases downloaded from the institution.
4. On the right, click on the button Open this base.

From a Client connected to the hosted Server, to load the attached documents, launch the command Hosting > Complete the hosted base and designate the  file * .HDOCJOINTS.

If your base was already hosted at Index Education in 2020-2021, log in to  your hosting console to indicate when you want to upgrade to the version.

The pre-release PRONOTE 2021 is available from July, 2021. Until July 2021, you  can request the transfer to this pre-release from your  console in the panel My account.

By default, the change to PRONOTE 2021 is automatically conducted between the 21st and the
24th of August. If, on that date, the active base is:

• a 2020-2021 base: a new 2021-2022 empty base is automatically created and activated.
• a 2021-2022 base: the base is retained.

Create a new empty base

At the end of August, the creation of a new base is automatic (unless you have already placed a new base online).

To manually create a new base:

1. Connect to the hosting console.
2. In the panel Server PRONOTE .
3. If necessary, shut down the Server and click on the button Create a base.
4. In the popup window, leave the default time grid (it will be reset with the data from EDT) and validate.
5. Click on the button Activate to render the base accessible from a Client (Client PRONOTE).

Publish the Webspaces on the Internet

The base is published by default. To end or republish, go to the hosting console , in the panel PRONOTE.net.

You can the publish/un-publish the Teachers, Parents, Students, and Student Administration Webspaces from the homepage of Client .

Replace an active base by an archive

1. In the hosting console , click on the panel Server PRONOTE  and then in the tab Safeguards.
2. Select the safeguard, right-click and choose Open this safeguard.
3. Activate the base.

Reserve a license for the users from the Administration group 

Your license authorizes a certain number of simultaneous connects in Administrative mode. To be sure that the SPR and other users from the group Administration can always connect, it is possible to reserve a license for them.

From the hosting console , click on the panel Server PRONOTE  and go to the tab Monitoring of connections. Enter the number of Licenses reserved for the administrators.

Load the bases from previous years on the server 

At the end of every academic year, the base is automatically archived. If it is the first year or if you want to replace an automatically archived base, you can manually load the bases from previous years on the hosting server.

 Prerequisite  You must be a user from the group Administration.

1. From a Client , go to the menu Hosting > Manage the bases from previous years.
2. In the popup window, double-click on a base to replace it or on an empty cell to complete a year.
3. In the popup window, double-click on the base to be loaded.

Renew the hosting contract 

 Prerequisite  You must login as the SPR.

1. From a Client , go to the menu Hosting > Renew my hosting contract.
2. Follow the instructions to edit a pro-forma invoice.
