Study Hall

Annual Study Hall courses

The creation of "Study Hall courses" simplifies the management of the Study Hall roll calls in PRONOTE and allows the editing of timetables bearing the mention Study Hall in the concerned slots.

Do not create Study Hall courses as you would classic course: you will not be able to move courses in this slot; the resources will be indicated as unavailable.

Create the Study Hall courses with students

The annual Study Hall courses with students allows you to find on PRONOTE's roll call sheets, the students who are always in Study Hall in a given time slot, this avoids having to add them manually. It is always possible to add additional students to these courses from time to time.

The annual Study Hall courses must be created after all the courses have been placed. To ensure not having too many students at the same time, you can optimize the distribution of students in the Study Hall beforehand (Optimize the study halls)

  1. Go to the tab Timetable > Course >  Study Hall management.
  2. If you want to consider only classes of one level, click on the button  Classes and only tick the concerned classes.
  3. Indicate if you want the students to be counted according to the permission slips (Permission slip) or according to the criteria relative to the time slots and students’ regimes  (Half-board): EDT automatically adapts the grid by indicating for every time slot the number of Study Hall classes and in parenthesis the number of concerned students.
  4. In the grid, click on the course to be created.
  5. In the popup window, tick the classes or class parts to be taken into account and click on Create a Study Hall course. If you want, you can create several Study Hall courses in the same time slot: just tick a few students during the creation of the course then repeat the operation with the remaining students.
  6. The course is displayed in the list on the left. Use the course form to add a room and/or proctor (to be created in Staff). To visualize the course in the grid, select Study Hall schedule.
  7. Repeat the operation for all the Study Hall courses to be created.

Create the Study Hall/Library courses without students

It is possible to create empty Study Hall courses, in which you can add the students as you go. This is particularly relevant for:

  1. Go to the tab Timetable > Rooms >  Timetable.
  2. Select the Study Hall room in the list on the left.
  3. Click-drag in the grid to trace the Study Hall course and double-click inside the green frame to validate the creation of the course (Trace a course).
  4. The course form appears with the mention Room reservation for the subject, double-click on it and select Study Hall so that course appears on the Study Hall's roll call sheet.

Note: it is possible to allocate another subject instead of Study Hall, (for example, Library). In this case, it necessary to indicate it is a "Study Hall" type course: you must select the course, right-click and launch the command Modify > Place in "Study Hall/Library".

Weekly management and special Study Halls

You can add students to the Study Hall who normally do not attend.

Assign a class to Study Hall when the teacher is absent

  1. Go to the tab Daily Management and absences > Teachers >  Entry of absences and replacements.
  2. Proceed as you would for a substitution: tick Temporary replacements and click-drag on the time slot.
  3. In the popup window, double-click on Study Hall.

Note: you can also conduct assigning to Study Hall from the assignment table : just tick the line Study Hall.

Place the students in a Study Hall course

  1. In the displays  Timetable of the week, select the class meeting.
  2. Right-click and choose Modify > Place in Study Hall/Library.
  3. By default, the room remains that of the course. If needed, modify it.
  4. If you are connected to a PRONOTE base, a roll call sheet corresponding to this Study Hall course is automatically edited.

Note: if you place the students of a course in Study Hall without first entering the teacher’s absence, the course is canceled but no absence will be counted for the teacher.
