PIN code
In addition to the password, entering a PIN code when connecting from a new device allows you to strengthen the security of your account. This dual authentication is proposed by default to all users.
Define and use a PIN code

- During your first connection, leave ticked Define a PIN code and use the numeric keypad to enter and confirm the code, by clicking on Validate each time.
- When you connect from a new device, the software asks you to enter your PIN code. If the device you are connecting from is only used by you or trusted people, tick I add this device to the list of my "recognized" devices and give it a name that allows you to identify it: use a specific name such as Room 201, Teachers lounge, etc., rather than generic wording such as School if you use
multiple positions within it.
- So that the device is recognized another time, PRONOTE places cookies in the browser. These cookies used to secure your account are not used for any other purpose. Thanks to their presence, the PIN code will no longer be requested when you connect from this device; only your username and password will be required.
Note: If you do not activate the PIN code during the first connection, you will still be able to do so later from the menu My Preferences > security > Protecting my account.
User Management
Configure the browser to avoid entering the PIN code at each connection

If you choose private browsing or if the browser systematically deletes all cookies at the end of the session (on some browsers, this option is enabled by default), the device cannot be recognized with each new connection.
One solution may be to manage PRONOTE cookies as an exception. Exception management is generally found in the Security or Privacy section of the browser’s options or settings.
The address of the website that is to be authorized is that of Webspace ending with index-education.net. (be careful not to enter the URL of your DW if you access PRONOTE from an DW). For all institutions whose data are hosted by Index Education, it is https://RNE.index-education.net (by replacing RNE with the RNE of the establishment).
Note: If multiple browsers are installed on the workstation, set them all or always use the same one.
Manage the saved devices

- Go to the menu My Preferences > security > Protecting my account
.
- You can find all the devices you have saved in the rubric List of devices/browsers saved in my account.
- If you no longer use one of them, select the corresponding line and click on the button
, or use the key [Del].
New Reset you PIN code

A user who forgets their PIN can reset it themselves without having to ask the authorized personnel.
Prerequisite In the menu Parameters > general options > Security, the SPR must have ticked the
option Authorize the teachers and staff to request a PIN code reset. The concerned
user must also have entered a valid e-mail address.
- In the PIN code input window, the user clicks on the button Reset my PIN code.
- A window indicates that a reset code has been sent to the user via email. The user clicks on Close.
- After reviewing the e-mail Reset code for your PIN code, the user enters the received 6-digit code and clicks on the button Validate.
- In the popup window, he/she can then define the new PIN code: using the numeric keypad to enter and then confirm the code, by clicking on the button Validate each time.
Modify your PIN code

- Go to the menu My Preferences > security > Protecting my account.
- Click on the button Modify my PIN code.
- In the popup window, enter your current PIN code, then specify a new one and confirm it.
Disable your PIN code (not recommended)

If the institution's administrator did not make the PIN mandatory, you can disable it.
- Go to the menu My Preferences > security > Protecting my account.
- In the rubric Strengthen the security of my account, choose Notification only or No additional security.
