Search for another place
This command allows you to displace a course to a place that seems impossible (gray place), while replacing step by step the problematic courses, you will oversee every replacement. EDT only allows you to use this feature if it sees that a solution
can be found in a maximum of three attempts.
Search for another place for an already placed course
- In all the displays Timetable.
- Select the course to be displaced in the grid.
- In the menu
Calculation (or using a right-click in the contextual menu), chose Search for another place.
- In the confirmation window, eventually tick the option Allows the placement of courses on places with optional unavailability to augment the proposed slots (EDT will eventually propose slots in where you have entered
an unavailability with the orange paintbrush).
- In the popup window, EDT illustrates in light gray the slots in which the courses can be moved: hover over a slot to know how many problematic courses must be replaced.
- Click on the chosen place: the problematic courses to be replaced are displayed under the grid.
- Click on the button Place on the bottom right: EDT moves the course.
- To the left, EDT displays the first problematic course to be replaced and proposes slots in the grid: either in white, if any additional course should not be moved, or in gray, if new problematic courses must be moved.
- Repeat the operation (choice of the place + placement) until you have placed the last problematic course in a white place.
- The list of all the moved courses is displayed on the bottom left.
- Click on the button Validate all the attempts
to close the window.
